Ministry of Defense Permits Passengers to Carry One Lighter on Flights from Maldives

The Ministry of Defense has announced that passengers departing from the Maldives are allowed to carry one lighter per person on flights, aligning with international aviation security standards.
According to a circular issued by the Ministry, this permission complies with the National Civil Aviation Security Program (NCASP) and guidelines set by the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO). Passengers may carry a single lighter either on their person or in their clothing pockets, provided the lighter is not classified as dangerous goods under NCASP’s "Prohibited Items List," ICAO Technical Instructions, and the IATA Dangerous Goods Regulations.
The Ministry also clarified that airlines retain the authority to restrict lighters on specific flights. Should an airline choose to do so, it must coordinate with the Aviation Security Command and submit a formal written request to the Ministry of Defense.
