10 Million Rufiyaa Allocated for National Research Fund

The Maldives has allocated MVR 10.4 million to the National Research Fund for this year, aimed at fostering research and academic development across the country. State Minister of Higher Education, Labour, and Skills Development, Ahmed Shafeeu, confirmed that the fund will be managed by the newly formed National Research Council, which will oversee grant distribution and identify key research areas.

The council will ensure transparency in fund usage and support the growth of skilled researchers in the country. Additional financial allocations for the fund are expected in the next fiscal year, further solidifying the Maldives' commitment to a research-driven academic environment.
