Hurricane Bart struck the UK last week, causing significant disruption to transportation and widespread damage to infrastructure. The storm has claimed four lives and damaged dozens of homes.
As of 11:00 PM on Monday, more than 300 flood warnings were issued across England and Wales. Approximately 100 households have been affected by flooding, according to the Environment Agency.
The fatalities include a man walking his dog in North Wales and another man who died when a tree fell on his car in southern England.
The storm has severely disrupted transportation, with train services south of London suspended and trees falling on railway lines near Stansted Airport, Britain’s fourth-largest airport. Although major roads impacted by the storm have since reopened, significant delays are expected to continue.
The storm brought strong winds, rain, and snow when it hit the UK on Friday night. The Met Office has issued a strong wind warning for northern Scotland, which is expected to remain in place until Monday. The storm is forecast to move out of the area by Tuesday morning.
The government has urged residents to exercise caution as Hurricane Bart continues to weaken. However, the risk of flooding remains for the rest of the week.
