As of November 18th, 2024, the Maldives has welcomed a total of 1.77 million tourists, according to the latest data released by the Ministry of Tourism. This marks a 9.3 percent increase compared to the same period last year, when 1.62 million visitors arrived. In contrast, during the same period in 2022, the number stood at 1.43 million.
China leads the list of top tourist-generating countries, accounting for 246,125 visitors, or 13.9 percent of the total arrivals.
Russia follows in second place with 198,464 tourists, while the United Kingdom ranks third with 153,857 visitors.
Currently, there are 1,242 tourism establishments operating across the country, including 171 resorts, 903 guesthouses, 154 safaris, and 14 hotels, offering a total of 62,694 beds for visitors.
