President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu has assured Maldivians that the new 20-year National Development Plan will steer clear of political conflicts for future administrations. His statement comes as the government begins inclusive discussions to design the long-term strategy.
The President stressed that the plan’s development is collaborative, welcoming input from all social sectors, including political parties. This approach, he noted, aims to mitigate the frequent policy shifts that have disrupted projects and delayed national progress with each change in government. "These shifts prevent the country from progressing at the pace it should," he stated. "However, this plan will be owned by everyone. Society as a whole will be involved, and political parties are encouraged to align with this direction."
President Muizzu emphasized that while the plan will provide a stable development roadmap, it will not restrict future governments from pursuing their own agendas. Its primary objective, he noted, is to foster growth and stability for the benefit of all Maldivians.
In addition to the National Development Plan, President Muizzu highlighted intentions to pursue constitutional reforms, aiming to support a robust framework for sustained national growth.
