Vilingili Island Council has announced the leasing of 11 land plots in southern Vilingili for the development of tourist hotels and guesthouses. The council invites interested parties to submit their bid registry forms by November 5, 1:00 PM, to participate in the project aimed at boosting local tourism.
The land plots designated for tourism purposes vary in size, including six plots of 3,647 sqft and smaller plots ranging from 400 to 2,701 sqft. Leases for these plots will extend between 15 to 35 years, providing long-term opportunities for tourism infrastructure on the island.
With Gaafu Alif Atoll’s largest fish factory situated just 1.1 km away, along with proximity to a regional airport and the renowned shark diving site between Kooddoo and Vilingili, the area is strategically positioned to attract visitors. The council anticipates that expanding local tourism through guesthouse and hotel developments will bring substantial economic benefits to the island, already surrounded by luxury resorts on nearby islands.
