The start of the second session of the Maldives Parliament has been postponed, with proceedings now set to resume next Monday following technical difficulties related to broadcasting capabilities.
Initially, the second session of Parliament was scheduled to begin tomorrow. However, in a message circulated to the members, the Parliament Secretariat explained that the postponement was due to challenges in setting up a new video room designed to broadcast the proceedings. The installation process is not yet complete, causing the delay.
The message also confirmed that Speaker Abdul Raheem Abdulla has made the decision to postpone the session until Monday next week, ensuring that all broadcasting equipment is fully operational for the public to follow the legislative discussions.
Parliament recently went into recess following the conclusion of its second session on September 22. The upcoming session will cover a wide range of pressing national matters, and the delay highlights the increasing importance of ensuring transparency and public access to parliamentary proceedings.
