More Than 500,000 Tourist Arrivals This Year

More than 500,000 tourists have visited Maldives so far in 2024.

According to the Tourism Ministry, 506,015 tourists visited the country till yesterday. At this point last year, 445,625 tourists had visited the country. This is an increase of 13.6 percent year on year.

The top three countries for tourist arrivals this year were China, Russia and Italy. From China, there were 60,243 tourist arrivals. This is followed by Russian and Italian visitors, of which there were 53,376 and 48,435 respectively.

The government has set a target of bringing in two million tourists before the end of the year.
