President Provided a Powerful Weapon to Protect Maldives’ Sovereignty: Minister Ghassan

The President has provided the nation with a powerful weapon that can be used to protect Maldives’ sovereignty, Defense Minister Ghassan Maumoon has said.

Speaking at the launch of the advanced drone and the Maldivian Air Corps, Minister Ghassan said Maldives has a long history of fighting for its independence and sovereignty.

Ghassan said that hundreds of years ago, as well as 35 years and 4 months ago, brave Maldivians sacrificed their blood and lives for the sake of the nation.

The responsibility of the defense system is to protect the independence and sovereignty of the country in its fullest sense, as well as to work closely with the people in disasters and emergencies and provide relief to the people, he said.

Also, current wars rely heavily on sophisticated technology platforms used in developed countries, which demonstrates the apt precaution of upgrading the defensive capabilities of the nation.

The Minister added that President Dr. Muizzu has created more confidence in the hearts of the people and the determination of the brave Maldivian soldiers has been strengthened. He also prayed that President Muizzu would succeed in his hard work for the sake of the people.
