Special Laboratory Being Established to Preserve and Maintain Cultural Heritage

The Minister of Dhivehi Language, Culture and Heritage Adam Naseer met with the Chinese Ambassador to Maldives Wang Lixin to discuss collaboration between the two nations in cultural preservation.

The two discussed the establishment of a special laboratory for the restoration and preservation of significant historical items related to the Maldives’ cultural heritage. During the meeting, the two discussed strengthening cultural ties between the two countries and some assistance needed by Maldives.

The Minister said that some of the items included in the ancient history of Maldives are being destroyed due to the lack of a relevant laboratory.

Welcoming the move to preserve the Maldives’ national history, the Chinese Ambassador asked the Minister to submit the necessary documentation for the establishment of such a laboratory. They also discussed the establishment of an agreement on the translation and publication of classical texts of the two countries.

The Ambassador also assured the Minister of China's full cooperation in the renovation and development of the museum building.
