Immigration Announces Special Passport Application for Certain Circumstances

The Maldives Immigration Service has created a special passport application route for those with medical emergencies or those over the age of 65.
The Controller General of Immigration, Mohamed Shamaan Waheed, has stated that this important change has been made to give full priority to the services provided to the Maldivian people. This has been done under the vision of President Dr Muizzu, he said.
At a joint press conference with the Minister of Homeland Security and Technology on December 20th last year, Shamaan said that another way to apply for passports would be provided to the elderly and others who have difficulty applying online.
Immigration said that in keeping with that promise, starting yesterday, people traveling abroad for a medical emergency and the elderly over the age of 65 will be able to appear at Immigration and apply for passports if they wish.
Those who apply for passports in medical emergencies will now be able to apply for them at any time. Such persons will be able to apply for their passports with the assistance of Immigration.
In addition, passport photography will be available for people over the age of 65 from 8:30 am to 5:00 pm.
Immigration added that the agency's objective is to follow the roadmap outlined by President Dr. Muizzu, which includes making the process for passport application quick and easy.
