Every 10 minutes a child is born in Gaza in the middle of the ongoing war, according to the United Nations Children’s Fund (UNICEF).
UNICEF said thousands of children were born in Gaza under "unacceptable" conditions during the Israeli massacre in Palestine which began more than three months ago. The United Nations Children's Fund (UNICEF) said about 20,000 children had been born there since October.
"It's a child born into this terrible war every 10 minutes," spokeswoman Tess Ingram told reporters in Geneva via Oman's video link. "While becoming a mother should be a time to celebrate, in Gaza it is like giving birth to a child in hell," she explained. She said urgent international action was needed.
According to the Gaza health ministry, 24,762 Palestinians have been killed in the air and road attacks, about 70 percent of whom are women, children and young adults.
Yesterday, Benjamin Netanyahu, Prime Minster of Israel, stated that Israel would not comply with the United States suggestion of a “two-state solution,” and would instead continue with the assault on Gaza and the West Bank until “complete victory.”
With 85% of the population in the Gaza Strip having been displaced since the beginning of the conflict and the large number of civilian casualties, Israel is under intense pressure to halt its offensive and begin talks to find a solution to the conflict.
