Food Price Caps to be Introduced During Ramadan

Every year during the month of Ramadan, food prices are increased. Fruits are usually priced 4 or 5 times higher than normal. This is because no matter how expensive the groceries are, everyone wants to have a variety of foods during Ramadan.
However, the policy of the government of President, Dr. Mohamed Muizzu, does not allow for the sale of anything unfairly. Therefore, the government is planning efforts to reduce such practices and bring food prices under control for the month of Ramadan.
Speaking on state media PSM's Raajje “Miadhu” program, State Minister for Agriculture and Livestock, Hussain Ismail, said the government has decided to implement food price caps during the month of Ramadan. This effort is a policy originating in Dr. Muizzu’s 14 week roadmap.
The work will identify the most in demand food items during Ramadan and also identify the market quantity of these food items, the ministry said.
In addition, people always complain about the poor quality of food available during Ramadan. To this end, the government has also decided to work to improve the quality of fruits and vegetables available in the country.
