The Speaker of Parliament, Mohamed Aslam, left on a visit to Sri Lanka yesterday. The parliamentary office said in a post on X that Aslam had left the country, but did not announce the details of his trip to Sri Lanka.
Aslam was on a visit to Uganda to attend the 27th Conference of Speakers and Presiding Officers of the Commonwealth held in Kampala from the 3rd to the 6th of this month. On the sidelines of the conference, Aslam met with Sri Lankan Parliament Speaker, Mahinda Yapa Abeywardena.
During the meeting, the two leaders noted the close relationship between the two countries in the past and discussed ways to strengthen and develop the relationship in the coming days.
