With the onset of the sunny weather, the air in some parts of the country has become unhealthy to breathe and visibility has decreased significantly since yesterday. The National Meteorological Agency (NMA) said the air in the north and central Maldives has been polluted due to the easterly winds.
The visibility distance is usually more than 10 kilometers away on a clear day, but the distance dropped to five kilometers yesterday with the effect of haze, the National Meteorological Agency said. Wind direction, speed and precipitation play an important role in changing distant visibility. According to the Agency, the sunny weather should continue until April, however the skies were hazy yesterday and have remained so today. The forecast shows that the air will improve from tomorrow onwards and no longer be unhealthy, but still moderately unclean.
