Chairman of NPC pays Courtesy Call on President

Mr. Zhao Leji, paid a courtesy call on President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu this morning at the Great Hall of People in Beijing. Mr. Zhao is the chairman of the Standing Committee of the 14th National People’s Congress (NPC) and a Member of the Standing Committee of the Political Bureau of the 20th Communist Party of China Central Committee.

The meeting between the two leaders was focused on increased cooperation between China and Maldives, analyzing new routes for collaboration and improving upon existing bilateral ties. Dr. Muizzu highlighted the importance of Chinese contributions to development in the Maldives and expressed his confidence in successful continued partnership into the future.

Chairman Zhao stated his interest in increased cooperation in culture, education, healthcare, tourism, sports and the arts. In addition to this, he expressed his desire to work together towards global goals of combatting climate change. During the exchange, Chairman Zhao also affirmed China’s commitment to the strengthening of the bonds between China and Maldives.
