A fatal accident took place in Hulhumale on Thursday morning, resulting in the death of a 59-year-old man. The incident occurred near the MPL flats in phase 2 of Hulhumale at approximately 9:56 am.
According to eyewitnesses, a pickup truck collided with a cycle, leading to the man's injury. The victim was immediately taken to the Hulhumale Hospital for treatment, but unfortunately, he succumbed to his injuries and passed away while receiving medical attention.
The incident highlights the prevalence of road accidents in the Maldives, particularly in the capital city of Male. Despite efforts to improve road safety measures, such incidents continue to occur, putting the lives of motorists and pedestrians at risk.
