Tyre burst incident at Velana International Airport causes temporary runway closure

Maldives Airports Company Limited (MACL) has announced that an aircraft ground incident was declared at Velana International Airport in the Maldives earlier today. The incident was caused by a tyre burst from a Fly Dubai FZ1569 during landing. Fortunately, all passengers and crew on board the flight are reported to be safe.
As a result of the incident, the runway at Velana International Airport has been temporarily closed. MACL is currently working to resume normal airport operations as soon as possible. However, the estimated time for runway closure is until 1700hrs.
While no one was injured in the incident, the runway is partially closed, and flights are being diverted to other airports. MACL is advising passengers to contact their respective airlines for more information on their flight schedules.
