Editors of several Maldivian newspapers have been summoned to the residence of Munu Mahawar the Indian High Commissioner to the Maldives.
At the behest of the Indian ambassador last night, the editors of some newspapers went to a meeting at the ambassador's residence and some of the discussions held at the meeting were shared with 'TMJ'.
According to a participant of the meeting, the political situation in the Maldives was widely discussed and the Indian ambassador had often spoken about President Yameen.
It is a well-known fact that the Indian High Commission is interfering in the local media. Many newspapers in the country are directly funded by the Indian High Commission. The High Commission also spends money through Indian companies operating in the Maldives.
While the Indian ambassador spoke to the editors of the newspapers about President Yameen, the Criminal Court has scheduled a hearing on Sunday to issue a verdict in the money laundering case against President Yameen.
