The Maldives has secured the position of the most popular travel destination upon receiving the “World’s Leading Destination” Award for three consecutive years at the World Travel Awards (WTA) 2022
Minister of Tourism Dr. Abdulla Mausoom and Chief Executive Officer and Managing Director of Maldives Marketing and Public Relations Corporation (MMPRC) Thoyyib Mohamed accepted the award on behalf of the Maldives at the Grand Finale Gala Event held on November 11, 2022, Friday at Al Bustan Palace, Oman.
In addition to this award, MMPRC received “World’s leading Tourist Board” Award after competing with 28 other countries.
Speaking at the ceremony, Minister Mausoom stated that such achievements are testament to the popularity and vibrancy of the Maldives as a tourist destination.
“The industry’s achievements throughout the past three years reflect the resilience of the Maldives tourism industry amidst any crisis – and that united, we can achieve anything.” Mausoom remarked.
The Ministry of Tourism targeted to receive a total of 1.6 million tourists this year. According to the ministry statistics, until last wednesday, 1,388,044 tourists have arrived in Maldives.
Since these months bring a huge influx of tourism each year, the tourism industry expects to achieve its target for the year with flying colors.
