Dr. Munavvaru denounces Nasheed’s decision to represent Sri Lanka at the COP Summit!

Expert on Law of the Seas and former Attorney General of the Maldives, Dr. Mohamed Munavvaru, who specialized in International Law, denounced Parliament Speaker and former President, President Mohamed Nasheed’s decision to represent Sri Lanka at the 27th Conference of the Parties of the UNFCCC (COP 27) in Egypt by the Government of the Arab Republic of Egypt.
Nasheed has set out to attend the 2022 COP27 as a member of the Democratic Socialist Republic of Sri Lanka’s national delegation.
In reference to Nasheed’s participation, Dr Munavvaru tweeted that the Speaker of the Parliament of Maldives, while taking salary from the Maldivian people, had gone to represent and delegate for another country. He questioned the loyalty of the former President to his mother nation.
In addition to Dr. Munavvaru, former Attorney General Azima Shukoor has also lambasted Nasheed’s trip to COP27 to represent Sri Lanka.

Sri Lankan President Ranil Wickremesinghe had appointed President Nasheed Nasheed as his International Climate Advisor, therefore, he will be advocating to preserve the interests of Sri Lanka.
