Some lecturers who taught at Mandhu College since February have complained of not having been paid their salaries
A lecturer at Mandhu College, with the condition to remain anonymous, told TMJ that more than 15 lecturers who taught at the college during February and March still had not been paid their salaries.
Mandhu College told the lecturers who complained about their missed salaries that the delay in salary disbursement was caused because they are under financial distress due to Covid-19 and missing college fee payments from their students. Mandhu College replied to an email sent by these lecturers in April saying that they will arrange their salaries as soon as possible.
However, after not being paid within the following weeks, the lecturers had sent another follow up email. Mandhu College then responded that they will be paid by the month of August, but it's still pending.
The lecturer told TMJ that Mandhu College has always had delays, of a month or two, in salary disbursement, however, it had never been put off for this long.
Most lecturers who taught at Mandhu College during February and March are no longer teaching at the college.
According to the source, Mandhu College owner, Ibrahim Ismail (Ibra) met with the lecturers regarding their complaints about salaries, however, they were not given an estimated time for disbursement. Only the assurance that they will receive salaries eventually.
