Minister of Finance Ibrahim Ameer falsely stated that 95 percent of the projects relating to President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih’s vows are currently in progress.
In response to the question posed by an MP asking whether developmental projects may need to be halted depending on the income forecasts, Minister Ameer said that despite the current financial constraints, various projects are in progress across the country.
Ameer said that finance ministry had noticed while drafting the budget for the next year that among the projects vowed to many islands, more than 95 percent of them are in progress.
Although, according to a senior official at the President’s Office, Ameer’s claim, to have 95 percent of vowed projects be ongoing, is a lie.
TMJ has learned that only a handful of these vowed projects have been in progress and many at these islands have vividly expressed their displeasure on the matter as well.
