In homage to the Golden Jubilee of Tourism in the Maldives, the Chefs Guild of Maldives has announced its very first “CGM Chefs Awards”, to be held biennially in recognition of the achievements of individuals associated with the fast-evolving culinary industry of the Maldives.
CGM works to engage schools and the local communities in various activities to promote the art of cooking and usage of local ingredients with a focus on retaining the customs, traditions and dishes that are in danger of disappearing.
CGM believes that the newly announced Awards will provide a platform to celebrate both local and international chefs, their achievements, and their impact on the local communities and the tourism industry.
In addition to promoting the culinary profession and the opportunities it offers throughout the Maldives, The Chefs Awards is believed to encourage the youth of the country, to move them towards CGM’s goal of developing a National Culinary Team to represent the Maldives in international competitions and forums.
Achievements recognised via this year’s Awards include;
Executive Chef
Sous Chef
Competition Chef
Education Chef
Pastry and Bakery Chef
Young Chef
Long Service Special Award
