TMJ has learned that MD Alamgir, the sex worker, was a minor at the time of most liaisons.
MD Alamgir was recently arrested on charges of blackmail, by using the sex tapes. Alamgir was part of a sex ring, that involved around 200 Maldivian men. In addition to Alamgir, lawyer Nazim Sattar and former Member of Parliament Mohamed Nasheed were arrested in connection to this case.
Prior to his arrest, Alamgir had shared some of his personal information.
He said that at the time he had first arrived in the Maldives, he was not yet 18 years old. He confessed that he had entered Maldives under falsified documentation.
As per his work permit, Alamgir was born in 1996. However, he claimed that he now is 19 years old and that he had turned 19 this year.
Most of the liaisons had occurred between 2020 and 2021. According to his timeline, during this time Alamgir would be underage and cannot legally give consent.
Maldives Police Service (MPS) is yet to reveal any details on the case, even information on those who are arrested. Journalists have to confirm any details from other sources.
