CEO of Bank of Maldives (BML) Timothy Sawyer has said that the Maldives might have to face a situation like the one faced by neighboring Sri Lanka.
Speaking at the Annual General Meeting of BML, Timothy said that the world is showing signs of economic crisis and that some countries are already beginning to experience such signs.
He warned that the dollar would worsen in such a situation. Furthermore, he said that the Maldives will be adversely affected by the increase in the price of goods and oil.
Winter is coming means something bad is going to happen. It is a popular GOT saying used by fans of the show to warn that bad things are coming.
Citing a popular Game of Thrones saying, Timothy said that "winter is coming for the Maldives". "Winter is coming" is a saying used by Game of Throne fans to warn that bad things are coming.
BML's CEO's grim remarks come at a time when investment bank JP Morgan has warned that the Maldivian economy will collapse within 19 months. However, the government of Maldives did not take the warning of the bank seriously.
The government has repeatedly informed the public that the Maldivian economy is growing rapidly.
