Ministry of Transport and Civil Aviation has given a fresh date for the launch on mini bus service in the capital Male’ City.
Introduction of mini bus services in Male’ City is one the first 100-day pledges by this administration. The pledge remains unfulfilled even though three years has passed to the pledge.
Transport Minister Aishath Nahla previously said the project was not listed on the budget.
When questioned, Deputy Minister Shimaz Ali said the project was tasked to Maldives Transport and Contracting Company (MTCC). MTCC notified those mini buses would be brought to Male’ late September or early October. Once received, the service would begin almost immediately.
MTCC was tasked with the project in February 2019, with a deadline of four months.
