EC Blind To MDP Candidate's Flaunting Of Rules In Foakaidhoo

The Maldivian Democratic Party's candidate for the Komandoo constituency, Mohamed Rasheed, has been seen campaigning within the vicinity of the ballot box located at Foakaidhoo (Shaviyani Atoll) in blatant violation of the Election Commission's rules.

The EC's inaction in response has become a cause for the public's concern.

A person from Foakaidhoo told The Maldives Journal that when the Election Commission had been informed that Rasheed was engaged in campaign activity within the vicinity of the ballot box, the Commission had chosen to not respond to the matter.

Given the many ways by which the government has attempted to exert its influence, many have questioned the integrity of the outcome of the Komandoo bi-election.
