MDP Councillor Zameer Accosted By MDP Activists

Ahmed Zameer, the MDP's member at the Male City Council, stated that he would continue in serving the people of Male City without any consideration of the harassment he were to face.

Last night, several people who had left the MDP's Clubhouse in Henveiru had accosted Zameer and had hurled insults at him. Dr Mohamed Muizzu, the mayor of Male City, condemned the assault in a statment isssued on Twitter. Zameer, in response, said that he would continue serving the people of Male City without any consideration of the harassment he were to face.

Speaking to the media, Zameer said that several MDP activists had accosted him with foul language and verbal abuse. He said that although he knew who the attackers were, he said that he did not wish to "descend to their level" and thus refused to name them.
