Homestay Vacations To Launch in Dhiggaru Next Year

Homestays, the newest addition to the Maldivian tourism industry, will be inaugurated at Dhiggaru; and the island would be publiclized as the first Maldivian homestay brand, "The Rihaakuru Island".

Speaking to Mihaaru newspaper, the Minister of Tourism Dr Abdullah Mausoom said that all of the preparations necessary to open Dhiaggaru up to the world as part of homestay vacations are underway.

He said that starting next year, tourists will be booking their homestay vacations at Dhiggaru.

The Minister said that the narrow opportunity to develop homestay vacations arose because the island was home to veterans of the tourism industry and young people interested in the new homestay concept. In addition to Dhiggaru, the island of Maduvvaree in that same atoll is also being prepared for homestay vacations.
