Criminal Court Orders 30-Day Detention for Ameen

The Criminal Court has ruled to detain Mohamed Ameen, currently being accused by the State of being the leader of a terrorist organization.
The Court had ruled to detain Ameen after the Supreme Court overruled the High Court's decision to reject the State's case against Ameen. The first hearing of the new motion against Ameen was held today.
The State had requested the Court to detain Ameen. The Court accepted the State's request and ordered that Ameen be detained for a period of 30 days. The Court claimed that it had ordered such a lengthy duration because Ameen stood accused of crimes that posed a threat to the general population.
Ameen's legal defence argued that though he had previously been under home-detention, which had entailed 21 days of electronic monitoring at home, he had not breached his detention conditions. His legal defence argued that there was no reason why the trial could not be continued while Ameen was kept in home-detention.
