An emergency motion was brought to the floor of People’s Majlis calling to investigate the case of 30 million MVR being financed to Executer General Trading unlawfully and to hold the perpetrators of this crime accountable.
This motion was submitted by Member for Maduvvari Constituency Adam Shareef. Thirty two members voted to approve the motion.
As the Anti-Corruption Commission’s report revealed that there was corruption involved in the financing of the ventilators, The Prosecutor General had subsequently decided that they will not be taking the case to trial due to insufficient evidence available.
Member Adam Shareef stated that there was no precedent to the Prosecutor General’s decision to not press charges in this case and that he believes there may be some influence over this decision and has noted that this case should be investigated and the money should be recovered.
