Indian Attacker Detained for 10 Days

The Hulhumalé Court has ordered the custody of the Indian man who had attacked an elderly worshiper in a mosque in Hulhumalé for a period of 10 days.
The Indian attacker had assaulted the elderly worshiper by grabbing him by the neck. He was stopped by other worshipers in the mosque and handed over to the Police. The Indian man was presented in the Hulhumalé Court which ordered a 10 day detention for the man and a full investigation.
The Indian man works as a cashier at a café in Hulhumalé.
Crimes committee by Indians in the Maldives has been on the rise, lately. An Indian man had attempted to rape a Maldivian woman in a resort; the attempted rapist had fled the country soon after.
More than 5,000 Indians had been granted visas to work in the Maldives in 2020. As many Indians are working local jobs with these work visas, Indian military personnel are also present on Maldivian territory. The Maldives National Defence Force had refused to disclose how man Indian soldiers were present in the country.
