Chief of Defence, Major General Abdullah Shamal
Chief of Defence, Major General Abdullah Shamal has tested positive for COVID-19.
According to the spokesperson for the Maldives National Defence Force, Ibrahim Azim; Major General Shamal was diagnosed with the virus yesterday afternoon after experiencing some of its symptoms.
Major General Shamal was currently in self-isolation at home, according to the MNDF. Azim said that the work of isolating and quarantining individuals who had come into contact with the Major General was underway.
He said that the Major General had not participated in any celebrations or receptions, nor had he travelled abroad.
