Member of Parliament for Maavashu Constituency and opposition PNC’s deputy leader Mohamed Saeed has called on the president to shorten their holidays and listen to the concerns of fishermen.
Referring to the protests by fishermen in Ihavandhoo, Saeed called on the president to shorten their holidays and pay dues to the fishermen in a tweet. He also noted that it is a shame that only MVR 215 million has been budgeted for fishermen from a record budget of MVR 45 billion.
He also noted that political expenditure is much higher than the budgeted amount for fishermen. A large sum has been set for remunerations of political appointees in next year's budget. MVR 27 million per month has been spent on remunerations of political appointees this year.
Recently fishermen have been protesting due to various concerns.
