Legal proceedings have begun for Mohamed Yunan and Fathimath Rihula who are accused of sexually abusing minors.
Speaking to the media, spokesperson of Prosecutor General’s Office Public Prosecutor Ahmed Shafeeu stated that legal proceedings are underway at the Criminal Court against the pair.
The pair faces several charges including sexually abusing minors over several days. Yunan faces 9 charges and Rihula faces 5 charges. The pair are currently imprisoned until the legal proceedings are over.
Yunan faces charges over showing sexually explicit materials to minors, forcing a minor to perform a sexual act, producing and possessing of pornographic material. Rihula faces charges over showing sexually explicit material to minors, performing a sexually explicit act in the presence of a minor and producing and possessing of pornographic material.
