Forner CDF Shiyam with President Solih
Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) has concluded its corruption probe into former Chief of Defence Force Major General Ahmed Shiyam and has referred him for prosecution.
Shiyam is accused of providing accommodation to his father at an MNDF Coast Guard facility against MNDF regulations. Following the completion of the investigation, ACC has referred this case for prosecution.
According to ACC Shiyam’s case was referred for prosecution due to misuse of official authority and misuse of official authority to provide illicit benefits to an individual.
According to ACC, the corruption probe uncovered that Shiyam’s father was lodged in the VIP building of an MNDF facility in Villingili from 18th July 2017 to 11th December 2018.
