Several employees of FSM suspended due to MPL corruption scandal

Employees of Fuel Supply Maldives (FSM) who were implicated in the corruption scandal involving procurement of fuel to Maldives Ports Limited (MPL) during the period Malé was in lockdown have been suspended.
Speaking at Raajje TV FSM’s Managing Director Mohamed Gasam stated that the company has taken disciplinary actions against several employees of the company who were implicated following an audit of the incident by MPL. He also stated that these employees have been suspended and that an internal investigation is ongoing.
According to Gasam initial findings suggests that corrupt activities have taken place and 5 individuals involved were suspended. He also noted that none of the suspects have admitted to the charges during the investigation. However, he indicated that evidence proves that the suspects were involved in the scandal.
A previous statement by MPL noted that the company had started an audit when the corruption involving the procurement of fuel for the company had been noticed. The statement also noted that the company had taken disciplinary actions against employees implicated in the scandal.
