President Yameen, the only leader capable of defending the country’s position in the turbulent Indian Ocean

Member of Parliament for Maduvvaree Constituency and PG leader of the opposition party PNC Adam Shareef Umar has stated that former President Yameen is the only leader who is capable of defending the national interests of the Maldives in the Indian Ocean.
Adam Shareef also tweeted that the government has sold the county’s privileges in the Indian Ocean for a lesser price. Furthermore, he stated that with this decision the country’s sovereignty has been lost and that as a consequence the government has to pay tribute to foreign powers.
In the same tweet, Adam Shareef mentioned that President Yameen is the only leader capable of defending the country's position in the turbulent Indian Ocean.
Indian influence over the Maldives has significantly increased since President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih came to power. As such the number of Indian military personnel in the Maldives has been increased and the Indian military operates 2 helicopters and an aircraft under a secret deal established between the two countries.
