SJ Construction Awarded Three-Story Zikura Mosque Project

SJ Construction and the Ministry of Islamic Affairs have signed an agreement to build a three-story mosque on the land where the Zikura Mosque is located.
The agreement was signed by Minister Dr. Mohamed Shaheem Ali Saeed on behalf of the Ministry at a ceremony held at the Ministry of Islamic Affairs. Director Shihad Ibrahim signed on behalf of SJ Construction.
SJ Construction had previously agreed to build a 10-story building on the land where the Zikura Mosque is located. The government of President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih canceled the agreement after SJ started the project and demolished the former Zikura Mosque.
Speaking at the signing ceremony held today, the Minister said: “The mosque will be completed within two years.” He also stressed the importance and virtue of building a mosque with one's own materials.
The SJ has gone to court seeking compensation after the previous government canceled the contract for the Zikura Mosque. However, the two sides agreed out of court to build a mosque in Hulhumalé at SJ's expense and decided to build a temporary mosque on the site of the Zikura Mosque. The temporary mosque built by SJ on the site of the Zikura Mosque was opened on the 23rd of April, 2023.
