Foreign Minister on Campaign Trip to USA

Foreign Minister Abdulla Shahid has travelled to the United States of America on a campaign trip.

Minister Shahid traveled to the States following his official visit to Kuwait. According to sources the Minister will be residing in the States for a week. The Minister met with the President of the UN General Volcon Bozkir yesterday. In a tweet regarding this meeting President Bozkin stated that he had met with the Foreign Minister and that unofficial discussions were underway regarding the elections that will be held to elect a president to the UN General Assembly.

The United Nations General Assembly elects a new President from a different continent annually with a vote by all member countries. The Current President of the United Nations is a Turkish member. The next President of the United Nations will be from the Asia-Pacific region. Along with Foreign Minister Shahid the Afghanistan Ambassador to the UK is competing for Presidency.

While Minister Shahid is away on campaign it has been decreed not to fly back staff from Missions abroad for holidays due to cutting expenses according to the circular sent out on the 14th of this month. 4,354,772 Maldivian Ruffiya was budgeted last year for the Minister alone and it is estimated that he may have exceeded budget already.
